Hello, I'm Bree Bonchay

I Know What It’s Like to Swear “Never Again”—Then Do It Anyway

I know what it’s like to see the red flags—and still get pulled in. Worse, to feel like you can’t walk away. Not because you didn’t know better, but because the part of you choosing the relationship isn’t the same part that memorized the warning signs.

It’s not about logic. It’s about lived experience—the patterns you’ve been conditioned to tolerate, what feels familiar even when it isn’t healthy, and what you’ve unconsciously learned to expect. Sometimes, what feels “right” is simply what you’ve rehearsed the most.

You don’t just fall for people—you fall for patterns. Not because you’re not smart or strong, but because logic can’t reach the deeper parts of you that are trying to protect you, make sense of your past, or recreate something that once felt like love—even if it wasn’t.

With over 20 years as a licensed psychotherapist, I specialize in helping smart, self-aware individuals like you break free from these painful cycles—whether it’s narcissistic abuse recovery, relational trauma, or C-PTSD—and begin attracting the healthy, loving relationships you truly deserve, and strenthening the ones you have.

I also understand what it takes to truly heal and build the kind of relationship that feels safe, steady, and real.

Today, I’m happily married to a wonderful man, and I’m in the kind of relationship I once believed was out of reach. Now, I help others create that same kind of love.

I’m also the founder of World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day (WNAAD) and the author of I Am Free: Healing Stories About Toxic Relationships with Narcissists and Sociopaths—the first anthology ever published on the topic.

If Chicken Soup for the Soul and a survivor memoir had a baby, I Am Free would be it.

Since 2016, I have hosted and organized the first-ever annual summit dedicated exclusively to narcissistic abuse and recovery.

Held every year on June 1st as part of WNAAD, this groundbreaking event brings together experts, survivors, and advocates worldwide to share insights, resources, and hope—building a powerful community for healing and empowerment.

Patterns don’t form in your head.
They form in your history.

If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Why do I keep ending up with toxic partners even when I see the warning signs? And why is it so hard to walk away?” you’re not alone—and you’re in the right place.

No matter what brought you here—therapy, coaching, EMDR, or just needing to feel understood—you’ve already taken the first step.

Let's take the next step together.

My Approach

Real Healing Doesn’t Happen In Your Head Alone.

That’s why I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach that blends brain-based insights with body-based wisdom—
because lasting change comes from addressing not just what you think, but what you feel, believe, and carry.

Evidence-Backed Modalities I Draw From
– Psychodynamic Therapy
– Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
– Internal Family Systems (IFS)
– EMDR
– Somatic practices
– Nervous system-informed care

Together, we’ll create a space that invites curiosity, clarity, and conscious choice— especially when insight alone hasn’t been enough to shift the pattern.

What That Can Look Like
  ✦ Processing stuck emotions
✦ Reworking protective parts that once kept you safe
✦ Exploring how your body responds in relationships
✦ Learning to trust your intuition instead of overriding it

Practical Tools for Real Life

Healing isn’t just about awareness—it’s about integration. You’ll learn tools you can actually use:

  • Boundaries that hold

  • Strategies that stick

The Heart of the Work

At the center of it all are compassionate, honest conversations that open new meaning, spark possibility, and help you move forward in a way that feels real, grounded, and true to you.

The Work, The Reach, The Why

Founder of World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day & The

Healing Invisible Wounds Summit

Since 2016, I’ve led World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day (WNAAD)—a global summit uniting survivors, experts, and advocates to foster education, healing, and connection.

What began as a vision to raise awareness has grown into a trusted worldwide resource, reaching thousands of people seeking support, understanding, and a path forward after narcissistic abuse.

Drawing on my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California (USC), and over 20 years of clinical experience, I lead WNAAD with a deep understanding of both the personal and systemic challenges survivors face.

Recognizing the red flags won't help you if your subconscious

is color blind to them.

My work through WNAAD and beyond has reached hundreds of thousands worldwide, offering hope, clarity, and practical guidance to those navigating life after narcissistic abuse and complex relational trauma.

I’m now channeling that same mission into my upcoming book, It’s Not You, It’s the Advice: Why Smart, Self-Aware People Still End Up in Toxic Relationships—And How to Break the Pattern for Good (coming early to mid 2026). It’s for anyone who’s ever thought, “How did I end up here again?”—even when they knew the red flags.

Whether you’re at the very start of your healing journey or ready for deeper transformation, you don’t have to do it alone. This work is my calling, and I’m here to help you create change that lasts.
